This position is located in the Office of Regulatory Science (ORS) within the Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA). ORA protects consumers and enhances public health by maximizing compliance of FDA regulated products and minimizing risk associated with those products and to ensure that all food is safe, all medical products are safe and effective, and the public health is advanced and protected.

Duties

Perform a variety of assignments which support the laboratory, including scheduling, organizing, and executing projects. Resolve administrative concerns related to laboratory projects, compiling and summarizing data, collecting and properly handling samples, and/or organizing data for analysis. Perform various record keeping tasks to fulfill laboratory quality system requirements. Prepare material for quality assurance reviews. Perform various data reporting tasks using results reporting database systems. Generate reports to assist lab management and analysts. Receive incoming shipments of scientific equipment, laboratory furniture, and supplies. Inspect incoming freight for accuracy of shipments, damages, overages, or shortages.

Qualifications

The position of Laboratory Support Assistant falls under the 0303 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-7, you must meet all requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 09/08/2023. Minimum Qualifications: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The specialized experience must demonstrate one year of full-time work experience, or the equivalent if part-time (for example, an employee working 20 hours per week for a 12-month period should be credited with 6 months of experience.) Experience may have been obtained in either the federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations. GS-7: You must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6, in the Federal service, which includes: performing laboratory administrative support functions such as compiling, interpreting, and monitoring information and data from various sources for accuracy; utilizing office automation equipment and software programs to prepare and edit correspondence and report data; safely handling, storing, accounting for and disposing of hazardous substances.
