The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that supplies and material are distributed to all areas serviced by Logistics. Responsible for directing, supervising and managing the primary inventory point that receives stores and issues supplies and material. Supervise a team of supply technicians in the distribution area to provide supplies and material to the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area.
Duties
Supervise a team of employees in the distribution area of Logistics.
Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Develop and execute staff training.
Evaluate work performance of subordinates; give advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
Improve production or increase the quality of the work directed.
Serve as the rating official on evaluations.
Promote team building and improve practices.
Work through subordinate staff, directs and oversee management and distribution of all supplies and material in the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area with responsibilities, including; Maintaining stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services.
Monitor expiration dates, rotating stock to limit outdates and removing items from use as required by outdates.
Check inventory for stock identified for recalled items and hazard alerts; assisting customers complete work orders for needed equipment.
Ensure critical supplies are appropriately monitored and controlled.
Perform daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment orders.
Resolve differences between records and physical count of stock. ?
Distribute items according to established or ad hoc requirements using the generic inventory package (GIP).
File requests for items based on daily schedules of needs or on an emergent basis as appropriate.
Deliver supplies in timely and accurate manner, ensuring that supplies and material delivered are in sterile and operational condition.
Completing specialty cart preparation and stocking.
Clean assigned secondary areas in accordance with aseptic principles as published in infection control guidelines, local SOPs, and Joint Commission standards as scheduled.
Conduct wall-to-wall and periodic inventories.
Occasionally assisting in other functional areas of the Section and performing other duties assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/08/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Supervisory Supply Technician position? Specialized experience includes: planning and coordinating work to be accomplished by other staff; establishing priorities for a department; overseeing the receipt and distribution of supplies and materials for a complex medical center; maintaining stock at inventory locations; monitors expiration dates; ensure supplies are delivered timely; training new employees and answering questions on local processes and procedures; ensuring proper storage of supplies and materials; resolving problems and providing guidance to others on logistics activities; and making recommendations on improvement of work production and quality of work.

Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100+ pounds). With proper assistance, moves heavier items weighing over 40 pounds. ?
