The primary purpose of the position is to assist with implementing Art Around the Corner partnership (AAC)programs, focusing on community building with parents and families at each school.This position is in the Department of Gallery and Studio Learning of the National Gallery of Art’s Division of Learning and Engagement, working under the direction of the Manager of the AAC partnership program.

Qualifications
Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-1016-9. A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is at least one year of experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service, performing a variety of duties, with particular emphasis given to teaching programs in local schools, planning, organizing, and leading workshops, and curriculum development in an Art-based organization.

1. Skill in writing curriculum and planning gallery experiences in order to help educate students.
2. Knowledge of communication techniques for students, donors and administrators.
3. Ability to build relationships with stakeholders for both schools and museums.
4. Knowledge of art history and art studio practices to help teach and engage students.
5. Because many of our students, teachers, and community members are multilingual, incumbent must have fluency in Spanish and be able to lead programs in both English and Spanish.

Education
Basic Requirements:
1. Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the federal NF-7 level, planning and implementing education programs for a multi-generational audience.

2. Candidates must have completed one (1) full academic year of graduate level studies in education, art history or museum studies.
or
3. Candidates must have completed four (4) years of full-time, college-level coursework (or equivalent) in any subject, with at least a 3.5 out of a possible 4.0 (or equivalent) grade point average.
Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education must be reviewed by an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
