You will serve as a MODEL MAKER of NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL.

Duties

You will manufacture unique research and prototype equipment/instruments, mechanical devices, jobs, fixtures, instrumentation repair. You will independently plan the sequence of manufacturing operations and assist the researcher in the design for the best engineering results. You will set up and test manufactured items.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to perform the work of a Model Maker without more than normal supervision: 1) Using engineering drawings, tentative rough sketches, or oral information related to basic design data to research, fabricate, rework equipment, devices or instruments ; 2) Working materials using a variety of specialized devices such as lathes, milling machines, drills, saws, grinders, shapers, as well as a variety of hand operations, such as hand tools, soldering, brazing, welding, adhesive bonding, etc.; 3) Making calculations such as loads, sizes, dimensional fits and weights, using shop algebraic and trigonometric formulas and tables on projects.
