About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Serves as a Security Manager in the G-2 (Intelligence and Security).

Duties

Serve as a supervisor and perform the full range of technical and administrative supervisory functions. Plan, coordinate, negotiate, supervise, and manage security support for Special Access Programs and general security programs, to include Counterintelligence and Technology Protection Programs. Serve as the central Point of Contact (POC) for all Special Access Programs managed by AMCOM, or in which AMCOM is a participant. Ensure that all report submission, coordination, meetings, and SAP security management functions are accomplished. Develop and implement methods and procedures to ensure internal functional efficiency, compliance with safety, security, and energy programs, support for the EEO program, and other stated Command goals and objectives. Execute administrative and personnel management responsibilities relating to organizational mission.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. *For more information, please see "Additional Information" below.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Will be required to perform overtime in excess of 150 hours per work year.
  • Must voluntarily consent to undergo, and successfully pass, a Counterintelligence Scope Polygraph examination.
  • Will be required to perform temporary duty (TDY) travel approximately 30%.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-13). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
