This position performs recurring building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties and assist journeymen and other higher graded maintenance mechanics. You will perform tasks from the following trades: Carpentry, Painting, Plumbing, Masonry, Water Treatment Plant Operations, Roofing and minor Electrical work. Duties

Perform recurring building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties and assist journeymen and other higher graded maintenance mechanics. Perform tasks from the following trades: Carpentry, Painting, Plumbing, Masonry, Water Treatment-Repair and Maintenance, minor Roofing, Electrical work, and Equipment Operation. Instructions are of a general nature, supplemented by your knowledge and understanding of the trade (s) involved with the maintenance or repair work needed. Responsible for detailed layout, selection of tools and materials and for accuracy, completeness and adherence to standards. Assigned tasks are performed independently, with no technical assistance. Finished work is checked for adequacy by supervisor.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic WG-09 without more than normal supervision. Specialized experience must demonstrate the ability to perform the work as a Maintenance Mechanic at the journeyman level. At this level, the employee provides technical recommendations for methods, tools, and materials used in these trades as well as plan, layout all work to be completed and ensure proper selection of materials and manpower for the completion of projects. Must demonstrate ability at this level in two of the following trades: Carpentry, Plumbing, Painting, Masonry, Water Treatment Plant Operations, or Roofing.(SCREEN OUT) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading). Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment. Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc. Knowledge of materials. Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic).
