This position is located in the General Services Branch, Division of Administrative Services, Northern Navajo Medical Center, Shiprock, New Mexico. The purpose of this position is to provide technical support as a Motor Vehicle in the General Services Branch. Incumbent reports to the Supervisory Health System Specialist.

Duties

Operates a vehicle to and from designated location for scheduled, specific, or emergency trips. Responsible for the safe transport of equipment and supplies and is protected from weather. Assures items are properly packaged and assembled in the loading area. Checks conditions of shipping containers prior to loading. Must follow all local, state, tribal and federal safety rules and regulations pertaining to moving vehicles. Responsible for the management of the Service Unit's GSA Vehicle Fleet. Maintains record files on each vehicles. Receives incoming shipment. Utilizes knowledge of warehouse plan and method to ensure proper storage and stock rotation. Delivers stocked medical and non-medical supplies and forms to appropriate departments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles), Operation of Motor Vehicles, Interpersonal Skills, Attention to Detail, Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, Etc. Vehicle Maintenance Candidates for this position will be evaluated under the Federal Wage System (FWS) Job Grading Standards. Applicants will be rated in the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Each of the job elements must be addressed on the on-line assessment questionnaire in order for the applicant to be rated for the position. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Physical effort is used reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arm, feet, and legs to operate hand controls on vehicle operated. When transporting patients, incumbent may be required to lift and maneuver patients weighing in excess of 150 pounds. Incumbent may exert moderate physical effort in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and the occasional handling of heavier objects while assisting patients. Considerable physical effort may be required to change tires and make limited emergency repairs. WORKING CONDITIONS: As an MVO, incumbent is required to operate vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Incumbent drives in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated roads and interchange systems. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
