You will serve as an ACADEMICS OFFICER in the Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group (MCTOG) of OFFICE OF THE COMMANDING GENERAL.

Duties

You will develop and coordinate short and long range plans, programs and methods to enhance training methodology. You will develop training materials for complete, full-length courses, or major course units of comparable scope. You will coordinate with outside agencies and civilian contractors in learning design. You will maintain close liaison with the operating forces, training developers, and the supporting establishment to ensure the adequacy of the Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group Operational Forces Support Program. You will host or participate in doctrine and training related conferences, briefings and tours.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: develop training related programs of instruction, courses, and doctrines; create short and long range goals to increase training methodologies; AND design complete training materials for implementation. Basic Requirements:
  1. Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.

    or

  2. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
