About the Position: Serves as the Office Automation Assistant providing overall administrative and automation support within the Operations Program Management Branch.

Duties

Operates a personal computer using advanced applications to electronically record, revise, correct, merge, extract, and print complex documents and material. From verbal instructions, rough drafts, or handwritten notes prepares correspondence, accounting documents, financial forms, travel claims, training forms, reports and sensitive personnel material in final form. Analyzes and reviews repetitive material and, as appropriate, develops standard formats using advanced software applications. Identifies office requirements which can be done more efficiently through development of macros and scripts to expedite production of documents with standard formatting, sections, columns, indentations, and portions of text. Serves as timekeeper for the Branch. Serves as training coordinator for the Branch.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) performing a variety of administrative support functions to include the use of office automation software (word processing, spreadsheet, and databases); AND (2) preparing, editing, and formatting documents and reports; AND (3) timekeeping in a financial management system or travel coordination. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05) Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Typing Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalCommunicationsSelf-ManagementTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
