This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. Individuals selected for ART positions must meet both civilian qualifications and uniformed military requirements. In addition to meeting civilian qualifications, applicants must obtain military membership in the Air Force Reserve, wear the uniform, maintain job-specific military specialty requirements.

Duties

Duty 1: Serves as the unit's expert intelligence analyst for the commander and staff on all intelligence matters, including intelligence processes, support requirements, technical aspects of weapons systems, terrorist operational methods as well as daily-integrated intelligence support in alert, crisis, and Force Protection situations Duty 2: Develops, monitors, and ensures execution of unit internal and external intelligence training programs tailored to the unit's mission Duty 3: Ensures the intelligence function maintains a capability to provide timely and accurate operational intelligence support and fully trained intelligence personnel during peacetime and contingency operations. Duty 4: Manages the unit intelligence mobility program Duty 5: Represents the unit regarding intelligence program policies, procedures and issues. Duty 6: Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities for 1-2 subordinate personnel. Plans and assigns work to be accomplished by subordinates, considers difficulty of assignments and capabilities of employees, sets and adjusts priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.

  • This position has been identified as a drug testing designated position. The incumbent of this position may be selected for random drug testing, and be subject to reasonable suspicion testing and safety mishap or accident testing.
  • Incumbent may be required to fly in military or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.

Qualifications

This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. *** Salary ranges includes local market supplements *** EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: broad knowledge and understanding of intelligence techniques as well as historical and political affairs. The incumbent must have the ability to collect, organize, and interrelate large amounts of diversely formatted data drawn from a wide variety of sources; assess the validity of the data; and draw conclusions or provide reasonable estimates regarding activities based on that analysis; and knowledge of: force protection; classified materials handling; Aerospace Intelligence Preparation of the Battlespace (AIPB), Predictive Battlespace Awareness (PBA) analysis; mobility/deployment preparations, requirements and materials such as Combat Mission folders; AFRC intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR)computer systems/software; command, control and communications protection; intelligence data collection, validation and production procedures; and project management techniques. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Extensive knowledge of intelligence procedures, methodology, techniques and strategies including but not limited to: force protection; classified materials handling; Aerospace Intelligence Preparation of the Battlespace (AIPB) and Predictive Battlespace Awareness (PBA) analysis; mobility/deployment preparations, requirements and materials such as Combat Mission folders; AFRC intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR)computer systems/software; command, control and communications protection; intelligence data collection, validation and production procedures; and project management techniques. Broad knowledge of military structure, political affairs and history regarding assigned area when analyzing intelligence data. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of real or potential security threats to or problems for program operations. Ability to plan detailed and complex studies, anticipate and solve problems, and to collect, organize, and interrelate large amounts of diversely formatted data drawn from a wide variety of sources. Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with individuals and groups within the office as well as outside the immediate work unit. Ability to critically evaluate sources of information and establish validity of facts. Knowledge of and ability to develop intelligence career field training programs and conduct training and testing. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, under both normal and high stress conditions associated with emergency situations. Knowledge of personnel management procedures related to the supervisory role PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members; are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency. Retired military that have active AF Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position) on the application. It must be signed by, or by direction of, the adjutant, personnel officer, or commander of your unit or higher headquarters and must indicate when your terminal leave will begin, your rank, dates of active duty service, the type of discharge and character of service (i.e. honorable). Your preference and/or appointment eligibility will be verified prior to appointment. Military members may be appointed before the effective date of their military retirement/separation if member is on terminal leave. Individuals selected for ART positions must meet both civilian qualifications and uniformed military requirements.
