You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MIL/OA) at NROTCU DUKE.

Duties

You will serve as the primary point of contact for new students and their families explaining program requirements, and as primary point of contact for headquarters, medical facilities and Defense Finance and Accounting service (DFAS). You will maintain all student records/files and collect data required in administering NROTC program requirements including enlistment contracts, enrollment, security clearance requests, and letters of warning/probations/ leave of absence actions. You will obtain, evaluate and process all related medical program requirements and examinations for candidates and submit physical exams to appropriate agencies for physical qualification and establish utilization of available medical facilities. You will obtain information from students/instructors/staff to input data in the Officer Program Management Information System (OPMIS) to maintain accurate pay and personnel records. You will prepare all administrative requirements for commissioning, including oath of office, service records and commissioning packages.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • There is occasional exposure to the weather for delivery of documents to University offices, military medical facilities, and the Personnel Support Detachment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Maintaining filing systems of various records; 2) Entering data into automated database systems; 3) Reviewing documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines; and 4) Utilizing office automation equipment and software in order to prepare a variety of forms and correspondence. AND This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
