About the Position: This position is located within the U.S. Army Installation Management Command, Installation Legal Office, Legal Assistance Branch, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, bordering Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive east and Springfield is a 1-hour drive west of Fort Leonard Wood.

Duties

Manage and coordinate appointment schedules for Legal Assistance Office (LAO). Complete client intake and ensure there is no case conflict for attorneys / client, while remote or in person. Act as the Information Management Officer (IMO) for the Legal Assistance Division, by assessing and troubleshooting computer and Information Technology issues. Manage the Client Information System (CIS), HotDocs, Information Technology System Managment (ITSM), Army Records Information Management System (ARIMS), and the Missouri Courts E-filing (ELAP). Analyze and evaluate the evidence provided in interview/screening to determine the likelihood of potential client prevailing in court. Research and analyze legal issues as requested by, and in support of, legal assistance attorneys. Note and correct case file deficiencies. Draft all court documents for adoptions, name changes, and legal custody for appropriate legal assistance attorney review. Serve as the primary notary public and primary point of contact for Power of Attorney. Serve as the Legal Assistance Liaison with the Soldier Readiness Processing Center.

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Legal, Government and JurisprudenceTechnical CompetenceWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
