About the Position: The position is located at the Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Fleet Management Expansion (FMX), Fort Benning, GA. Fort Benning is located 100 miles south of Atlanta, GA, and adjacent to Columbus, GA and Phenix City, AL. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Public transportation and free parking are available.
Duties
Perform field-level testing, synchronization, maintenance, and repair on communications equipment such as the digital command and control system known as Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below-Blue Force Tracking (FBCB2/BFT).
Maintain and update software network initialization data, maps, system change packages, and cryptographic keys for various types of electronic communication devices.
Test, adjust, troubleshoot, modify, aligns, service and repair a variety of optical devices, sub-assemblies and components.
Identify and requisition communications parts as a result of inspections and services.
Locate, isolate, repair, and replace defective components or parts including power supplies, connectors, resistors, transformers, hard drives, boards, and basic functional circuits.
Install, remove, and repair antenna components as required.
Perform technical inspections and execute maintenance services on equipment organic to organization.

- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid military Driver's certification/license to operate equipment/vehicles for job performance, as necessary.

Physical Effort: Exhaustive physical exertion is periodically required. Employee is required to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, climb and lift frequently and for prolonged periods of time. Required to service antennas affixed to roofs and high places. Routinely handles objects weighing up to 66 pounds. Occasionally lifts objects in excess of 66 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside, in garrison or field environment, frequently in cramped and awkward positions. Outside work involves exposure to extreme cold and heat. Exposed to the possibility of bruises, burns, cuts, electrical shocks, and broken bones. Possibility exists for injury from dropped units or parts. Utilizes safety equipment and follows safety procedures.
