About the Position: Incumbent is responsible for all phases of the Third Party Collection Program (TPCP) billing program. This position is located within the Army Medical Center Darnall within the Central Texas Market.
Duties
Determines what medical information is required and obtains same from Inpatient, Outpatient, Ambulatory Procedure Visit, and/or Observation Records to initiate billing activities.
Utilizes a thorough knowledge of medical terminology and disease processes to analyze each record of treatment to ascertain which visits meet the billing criteria.
Reviews all documentation related to the visit i.e., bundling/unbundling of Laboratory/Radiology charges and various other charges to assure accurate billing.
Generates bills for outpatient visits, radiology/laboratory procedures, ambulatory procedure visits, observation care, ambulance and pharmaceutical supplies utilizing the Third Party Outpatient Collection System (TPOCS).
Creates a pull list report in automated systems for outpatient records, reviews the outpatient medical record for possible billing.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is a financial Management level 2 Certified position the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F- Financial Management, Section 1599d.
- Incumbent shall comply with the requirements of this certification program. Certification Level 1: Incumbent of this position is required to comply with all Department of Defense and Department of the Army requirements of this certification program.
- Failure to obtain this certification within the required time frame of 2 years, may subject the incumbent to adverse action.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing automated systems to generate or maintain files/documents; retrieving and reviewing information to ensure accuracy for appropriate billing third party billing; and communicating with necessary personnel to resolve issues regarding the billing process. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
