About the Position: Serves as a supervisory pharmacist at Desmond T Doss Health Clinic on Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Duties

Develops medication safety goals and objectives for the Department of Pharmacy. Participates in collaborative interdisciplinary practice with medical staff leaders to achieve these objectives through active participation in ambulatory care and hospital-level committees. Coordinates and actively monitors and improves interdepartmental and intradepartmental medication safety-related processes. Ensures institutional activities are compliant with accepted health care practice standards and applicable laws and regulations. Supervises Department of Pharmacy employees involved in medication systems management and compliance monitoring. Serves as an instructor for graduate-level pharmacy students engaged in clinical training at DDHC.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This job may on occasion entail evening, weekend, and/or holiday duty and on-call duties.
  • All employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are to be screened for applicable immunizations.
  • Supervisory probationary period of one year is required.

Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status. Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors Experience GS-13: One year of professional pharmacy experience which includes providing clinical pharmaceutical care to patients in a medical treatment facility/hospital; advising on medication therapy management; and training or educating health care professionals on the use of drugs and other pharmaceuticals. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AccountabilityPharmacologyPharmacy Equipment/AutomationPharmacy Laws, Regulations, and Professional Standards Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
