The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Smithsonian Institution(SI)'s Privacy Office. The employee provides support to the Privacy Officer (PO) with the day-to-day administration of the information privacy program and all privacy-related activities for the SI.

Duties
The position serves as a Privacy Program Specialist responsible for assisting with efforts to ensure proper administration and management of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (sPII).

Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position Specialized experience is defined as experience performing at least three of the following: (1) assisting in the administering of a privacy information program for an organization (2) experience with activities that required implementation of laws and other guidelines related to privacy information, (3) being responsible for preparing privacy policy and procedural guidance, (4) evaluating compliance with organizational policies, applicable law and local guidance, (5) conducting training on privacy procedures, or (6) overseeing the organization's personally identifiable information protection processes and procedures. Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification is desirable but not required.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.
