Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of U.S. Border Patrol, Swanton Sector, Sector Intelligence Unit, located in Swanton, Vermont.

Duties

The work carried out by this position engages in developing sources of information for intelligence collection used for projecting data and/or estimates of future situations, developing trends and patterns, and producing studies and tactical data. This position starts at a salary of $100,026.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $130,032.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $130,032.00 (GS-13 Step 10). In this position you will serve as an expert in the planning, evaluating, discussing and testing of intelligence information. Your duties will include: Contributing to short - and long-term planning through in-depth research and analysis regarding threats to border security. Compiling, collating, extrapolating, and exploiting information from CBP databases, open-source reporting Identifying, reviewing, and evaluating large volumes of sensitive and complex information in support of strategic, operational or tactical operations. Engaging in research and analyses to develop and publish finished tactical, operational and strategic level intelligence products. Selecting the proper methods of dissemination and coordinating dissemination of informational and intelligence products.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Serving as an expert researching and developing intelligence related to transnational crimes (alien and/or narcotics smuggling, financial, and/or property) Researching and developing intelligence related to significant terrorist organizations Reviewing, processing and evaluating intelligence information from a wide variety of sources; collecting and extracting intelligence information for dissemination Providing authoritative analytical direction and project-monitoring services in specified or interrelated geographical and functional areas. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 09/07/2023.
