Duties

Planning, developing, organizing, implementing, directing, and evaluating the agency's IT infrastructure and support for all programs and organizations of the US GPO through subordinate managers Advising the CIO in planning, organizing, operating, and managing IT programs Supporting the development and retention of a high-quality workforce Maintaining staff and contracted resources as reqiured Other duties as delegated or assigned

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selectee must successfully pass pre-employment prior to appointment.
  • Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
  • Selectee must be able to pass a Suitability background investigation.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. and Specialized Experience: In order to qualify for the Deputy CIO, PG-2210-15, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the PG-2210-14 grade level in the federal service which includes: Leading, directing, attracting, selecting, motivating, rewarding, and training and large, diverse staff according to relevant laws, policies, and procedures Applying a broad range of managerial concepts, principles, laws, regulations, and policies Providing advice, assistance, and troubleshooting to customers for a broad range of operating systems, protocols, and systems while minimizing interruption to critical customer systems Managing a dynamic workforce, formulating program initiatives, and ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements Assessing programs and improving processes through a wide range of methods Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/2200/information-technology-it-management-series-2210-alternative-a/ Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education cannot be used as a substitute for specialized experience at the PG-15 grade level. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement 09/07/2023to be considered.
