About the Position: This is a PERMANENT position as the Deputy to the SSI Commander, GS-0301-15, with the Soldier Support Institute located at Fort Jackson, SC 29207 ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND OPM PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK".

Duties

Supervises all SSI staff actions providing advice, guidance, and regulatory interpretation of laws, orders, rules, and regulations. Provides advice within subject matter areas, resolving matters of policy interpretation and introducing changes in program requirements and procedures. Provides administrative program direction to subordinate unit Directors/Commanders and staff elements. Evaluates the effectiveness of the Institute in terms of mission accomplishment, quality and quantity of standards met; procedural, policy, and regulatory compliance; and technical competence. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Assures reasonable equity of individual employee performance objectives, standards and ratings among subordinate organizations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) business travel will be required approximately 20% of the time.
  • This position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential"
  • One year Supervisory probationary period may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain Secret security clearance.
