This position will be assigned to the JBSA Lackland CDC. This is a regular part-time category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week. May work up to 40 hrs./wk. Employees appointed to a regular category position are eligible for benefits.

Duties

Applicant will support lead cook with preparation and cooking meals for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age using USDA/AF approved menus to include supporting medical dietary needs/food prep for children per instruction provided by physician. Applicant will be responsible for receiving deliveries, rotating stock, completion of daily ,weekly and monthly checklists, complete and retain food receipts, wash dishes and distribute/retrieve food carts to program classrooms. Applicant will support AF/Public health inspection criteria at a 100% accuracy. Applicant responsible for following all sanitation procedures. Applicant must meet physical requirements and be able plan for cooking processes to produce complete meals on time and at the proper temperature. Applicant must adhere to all safety procedures. Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a pre-employment physical.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain current record of immunization.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain a Food/Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.

Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in and knowledge of methods and procedures relating to food preparation and presentation gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic. Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment, characteristics of various foods, and the ability to season food and decide when foods are done is required. Must possess a high school diploma (or equivalent). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):You qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic. 2. Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment, characteristics of various foods, and the ability to season food and decide when foods are done is required. **NOTE: Those qualified applicants who meet both the minimum qualification requirement(s) and highly preferred criteria(s) will be considered best qualified for this position and will be referred to the selecting official(s) first for consideration.
