Incumbent performs routine semi-skilled and unskilled food service task in support of the food peparation for the MWR Food and Beverage department aboard NAS Pensacola, Florida. Incumbent's primary duties are to assist the Food and Beverage Manager as a Food Service Work Leader in the preparation of food for regular menu items.
Duties
In addition to the leader duties, the incumbent performs non-supervisory work of a food service worker approximately 75% of the time.
Prepares a variety of pizzas, subs and pastas from prepared ingredients using established recipes. Ensures the quality of food prepared.
Operates and uses pizza and convection ovens, pizza dough machines, slicers, deep fat fryers and miscellaneous kitchen equipment and utensils. May be required to ring sales on the cash register and make change.
May count and turn in change funds and daily activity records and receipts.
Responsible for the receiving duties during their shift. Assures breakouts are done for the food department prior to securing. Assists with physical inventories.
Maintains environmental, health, and safety standards during their shift and logs temperature charts for all refrigeration, freezers, at least once per shift. Informs management of discrepancies, broken or damaged equipment.
Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.

- May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.

- Must live within a 50 mile radius of NAS Pensacola, Florida.
Qualifications

One year of specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Ability to perform all task and duties of the food service worker in lower grades. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Skill to work quickly, efficiently and neatly in tasks involving several steps. Ability to follow recipes, and to combine ingredients for complex salads and other uncooked food products. Knowledge of and experience in the safe and sanitary operation of kitchen and serviced equipment under general supervision. Knowledge of proper food handling techniques in accordance with sanitary requirements.
Ensures employees follow safety, security, and housekeeping rules. Obtains from and/or relays to management information concerning problems, progress and delays. Incumbent must be able to work with general supervision or in areas and at times removed from direct supervision. Must possess sufficient knowledge and experience to exercise some judgement in the proper performance of daily or general recurring task. Must be capable of exercising some judgement in the care and sanitation of kitchen and service equipment and surrounding area. Works under the administrative and technical direction of the manager or assistant manager.
Physical efforts: Incumbent frequently lifts and moves objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Constantly stands or walks in the performance of duties
Working Conditions: Incumbent must perform duties in indoor areas which are adequately heated, lighted and ventilated. Exposure to minor cuts, bruise, burns, scalds and the possibility of falls on floors that are wet from daily mopping, or where food and beverages have been dropped. May be exposed to extremities in temperatures of the kitchen equipment and walk-in refrigerators. The incumbent may be required to work on rotating shifts to include days, nights, weekends and holidays.
