Incumbent will plan, organize, and conduct a physical fitness program that provides conditioning programs for authorized patrons. Will also instruct individuals and groups in the proper implementation and maintenance of conditioning and training programs for aerobic fitness, muscular fitness, body composition and flexibility training. Hours of work will be dependent upon group exercise schedule. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Duties
Conducts micro-fit testing, which includes measuring individuals aerobic capacities, their body fat percentage, recommended height/weight ratios, strength, flexibility, muscular endurance, and blood pressure.
Works with various command representatives in developing and implementing physical fitness programs for military personnel.
Instructs patrons in the proper use of all equipment for training and self-monitored progress by preparing written instruction and procedures for the performance of work, use of equipment, safety and well being of all involved.
May train/lead other employees in various recreation/ physical fitness-related positions.
Registers students, collects fees, maintains attendance and appropriate accounting records.
Ensures all safety measures are observed.
Responsible for care of equipment and facility.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications

A qualified candidate possess the following:
Nationally recognized fitness certification required in one or more of the following: ACE, ACSM, NCSA, etc. Additional certifications in yoga/pilates, spin, functional training, sports performance or personal training preferred. Must have experience running group exercise classes. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required. Knowledge of basic cardiovascular risk factors, weight loss and nutritional habits, proper biomechanic techniques and fitness profile testing. Skill in instruction and proper use of exercise equipment. Ability to handle emergency situations. Ability to maintain records and reports. Ability to deal effectively with others and follow verbal and written instructions. Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
