Supervisory Store Associates serves in a developmental capacity as the second line supervisor of the Front-End Department of a Commissary store, fully participating in the management of activities and function related to the Department. They are responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and controlling front end activities and personnel.
Duties
This is a developmental position at the GS-06 level. Work assignments are progressively complex and intended to broaden the incumbent's skills and provide practical experience to prepare the incumbent to perform at the target grade level. At the target grade level the major duties are:
Serves as a first line supervisor for store associates.
Directs the following work in multiple areas of the commissary.
Front end operations including patron identification, customer inquiries, check out and cash control.
Non-perishable stock control including transporting item and stocking shelves.
Meat display and case stocking.
Produce inspection display and rotation.
Accounts maintenance, supply and computer operations.
If applying for the GS-06 level this position offers promotion potential to a higher grade. To prepare you for the higher grade, work assignments will be progressively more complex. After meeting all qualifications and requirements for the next grade level and with your supervisor's recommendation, you may be promoted without further competition. However, promotion is neither guaranteed nor automatic.

Requirements

Qualifications
You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) basic requirement and qualifications for 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date.
GS-06 Level Qualifications: Your resume must clearly show that you have one (1) year of experience planning, directing, or assigning work for employees, knowledge of multiple departments within a grocery store in order to evaluate work, provide instruction, and conduct on the job training for workers, carry out daily retail grocery store functions necessary to successfully execute store operations (specialized experience) equivalent to at least GS-05. Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military.
GS-08 Level Qualifications: Your resume must clearly show that you have one (1) year of experience planning, directing, or assigning work for employees, knowledge of multiple departments within a grocery store in order to evaluate work, provide instruction, and conduct on the job training for workers, carry out daily retail grocery store functions necessary to successfully execute store operations (specialized experience) equivalent to at least GS-07. Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military.
You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Physical requirements: (1) Stand, stoop, kneel, bend and climb for prolonged periods. (2) Lift, push, pull, carry, and handle items weighing up to 40 pounds independently and occasionally over 40 pounds with assistance. You will attest to your ability to perform these physical requirements in the Questionnaire.
