Motor Vehicle Operator will be responsible for the movement and relocation of all furniture throughout the Northport Health Care System. This position will report to the Environmental Management Service.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to;
Moderate physical effort is required in the frequent loading and unloading, lifting, bending, pushing and carrying furniture with an average weight of 100 pounds up and down stairs, without the benefit or an elevator.
Furniture Mover Truck Driver in the Environmental Management Service (EMS)responsible for the movement and relocation of all furniture to and from designated areas throughout the Medical Center.
Assists in the periodic inventory of furniture.
Disassembles and/or assembles furniture by hand and uses common tools exercising care and caution in handling of same. Assures the items are not damaged; and reports all damaged furniture to the immediate supervisor.
Responsibility for the furniture store rooms and their security.
Operates station motor vehicles in the performance of his/her assigned duties with gross vehicle weight of more than 7,000 pounds and Jess than 22,000 pounds and capable of carrying loads up to four tons. Vehicles include: vans, panel trucks, trucks, station wagons and pick-up trucks.
Additional duties assigned.
Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm and may be required to work on holidays and weekends.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The Motor Vehicle Operator will exert light physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Will exert moderate physical effort in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds), and the occasional handling of heavier objects while loading cargo, with the assistance of other workers or weight handling equipment. Moderate Physical effort is required in operating, turning, backing, and controlling vehicles which carry heavier loads or large numbers of people than vehicles at the grade 6 level. Moderate physical effort may be required in making couplings between the vehicle and towed equipment because safety chains, tow bars, and hooks must be lifted and properly secured. Considerable physical effort may be required to change tires and limited emergency repairs, such as installing an emergency fan belt or replacing an electrical fuse on open highways. Greater physical effort is needed to manuever the longer and heavier vehicles, especially when backing these vehicles. Ambulance or patient transport vehicles may be required to assist patients into and out of the vehicle, which involves physical exertion and frequent stooping and bending. Patient transport vehicle driver must be able to assist patients into and out of the vehicle, which involves physical exertion and frequent stooping, bending, and lifting of patients. Driver must also be able to load and assist wheelchair patients, often with no assistance. Drives in all types of traffic and weather conditions, and is exposed to potentially hazardous situations ad serious accidents. Must be sensitive to the needs of the passengers and must exercise patience and render assistance whenever possible.
