This position is located in the Engineering Service of the VA Medical Center in Tuskegee, AL.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Processing incoming and outgoing correspondence, reports, memoranda, etc.; Researching files for information; Maintaining the office calendar and recording appointments; Coordinating meetings/conferences; Reminding staff of appointments/meetings and making administrative arrangements as needed; Maintaining effective office systems (files, reports, etc.), travel procedures (reservations, itineraries, etc.), and communication; Ensuring that files are complete and accurate; Preparing online invoices for certification, researching and verifying the availability of funds, and verifying completion of work; Completing training requirements to maintain a government purchase card to order office supplies; Justifying and requesting replacements for outdated equipment; Answering and directing phone calls, referring visitors, and providing information about the office, its functions, and standard operating procedures; Performing timekeeping duties as the back-up timekeeper; Performing related duties as required. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-06: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes: maintaining an office calendar; preparing reports, memoranda, and correspondences; ordering office supplies; and answering telephones and providing information to customers. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. A Quality Ranking Factor* has been requested by the facility to help determine which of the basically qualified applicants are likely to be better qualified for a position. The quality ranking factor for this position is: The ability to type 40 words or more per minute. *Quality Ranking Factors are skills, knowledge, abilities, or other worker characteristics which could be expected to result in superior performance on the job. Quality ranking factors will not be used for screening but may be used as ranking criteria. Applicants with higher proficiency levels may rank above those with lower proficiency levels on a quality ranking factor. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Administration and ManagementClericalCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Quality Ranking Factor IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The work of this position is sedentary. Typically, the employee will sit comfortably to do the work, however there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items like papers or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts and requires normal safety precautions typical of such places as meeting and training rooms, libraries, or commercial vehicles. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
