This National Guard position is for a METEOROLOGICAL TECHNICIAN , Position Description Number LT5C9000 and is part of the 169 OSS, South Carolina Air National Guard.
Duties

This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title V, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)"
The primary purpose of this position is to provide the most accurate and responsive meteorological and aerospace environmental services possible required by the staff and operations personnel of the 169th Fighter Wing and Army Aviation Support Facility to aid in the operational planning and decision-making process and resource protection.

Qualifications
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title V, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)", and is open to US citizens interested in helping the Department of the Army meet our mission requirements.
Area of Consideration: This position is open to AOC 1.
Area 1: Current employees (Tenure 1 and 2 / internal to the Agency)
Area 2: All other applicants (external to the Agency).
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training involving performing meteorological watch; and communicating effectively orally and in writing. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To be rated qualified for this position your resume must show definitively at least 24 months experience in the following-
Experience, education, or training in applying principles and procedures of various meteorological models and forecasting techniques.
Experience collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating numerous meteorological and oceanographic charts, planning, organizing and coordinating work.
Knowledge of meteorological methods, techniques, and practices, including weather observing, forecasting, communications, meteorological equipment and support procedures in determining how local conditions and reports and observations from various sources affect weather forecasts, the extent of change, and whether to take action to protect life and property.
Skill in the development and operation of data collection, verification, information dissemination, observation, and forecasting services and systems.
Education
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience - Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of physical science, or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as meteorology, mathematics, engineering, or physical science for GS-05 positions.
