Duties

THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the VISUAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST, GS-1084-11, is to plan, program, coordinate, and direct visual information through consultation, analysis, design, development, procurement, production, and/or reproduction of Visual Information (VI) products and services. May direct work to be accomplished by a Photographer and an Illustrator. Visual information consists of visual materials such as pamphlets, graphs and charts, diagrams, models, slides, live or video recorded speeches or lectures or web page designs.

Qualifications

VISUAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST, GS-1084-11: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-09 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated: Experience planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means; Experience that demonstrated the skills and creativity needed to use the tools or equipment associated with the work; Experience that involved visual communication of information or the application of the principles of artistic design. Education

Undergraduate and Graduate Education in one of the following major studies: commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.
