You will serve as a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER in the OPERATIONS (N3), FORCE PROTECTION (N32) of NAS PATUXENT RIVER SECURITY DETACHMENT.
This position does not meet the definition of Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) and is excluded from coverage as LEO for purposes of the Federal Employment Retirement System-Base Annunity in accordance with 5 CFR, Part 842, and Subpart H.
Duties
You will coordinate emergency response for calls concerning complaints or reports of violations.
You will respond to and investigate complaints while enforcing state and federal laws and regulations.
You will conduct investigative stops on violators of traffic laws.
You will implement force protection measures in compliance with laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. Must qualify for and maintain an emergency vehicle operator endorsement.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.

- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. This is a bargaining unit position. The incumbent must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Incumbent is required to wear an assigned uniform and display official designated items or accessories to include additional required equipment. The employee must follow and adhere to applicable grooming standards for the installation.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license. Must qualify for and maintain an emergency vehicle operator endorsement.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You must successfully complete a required Police Training Academy or equivalent course, e.g., Navy Police Officer Academy; a federal or military police academy; or equivalent law enforcement training.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
- You must successfully pass an initial, annual or any required Physical Agility Test. Incumbent must meet OPM hearing and vision requirements to include distinguishing basic shades of color.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Directing and making immediate decisions in the provisions of law enforcement (LE), anti-terrorism (AT), and Force Protection (FP); 2) Performing a full range of duties and responsibilities in preventing terrorist activities, resolving offenses, conducting preliminary and ongoing investigations of incidents; 3) Documenting law enforcement and security events and the issuance of citations; and 4) Implementing FPCON measures and RAM in the response to command direction and terrorist threats. Successful completion of a Police Training Academy or equivalent course (e.g. Federal Law Enforcement Training Course (FLETC) is a requirement of the position. Must successfully complete a required Police Training Academy, or equivalent course, and complete annual sustainment training, Level 1 Oleoresin Capsicum contamination training, and OC refresher training.
