You will serve as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician in the Environmental Security Directorate of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will facilitate the compilation, cataloging, tracking, storage/retrieval, analysis, updating, and graphical display natural resources, environmental pollution and cleanup, and military training and construction planning data. You will compile, catalog, track, store/retrieve, analyze, and update spatial data. You will compile, synthesize, analyze, interpret, and present (both graphically in terms of maps and charts in reports). You will plan and complete field investigations, acquire access to and interpret aerial photos, participate in on-site reviews and surveys.

Requirements

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Facilitating the compilation, cataloging, tracking, storage/retrieval, analysis, updating, and graphical display natural resources, environmental pollution and cleanup, and military training and construction planning data; (2) Compiling, cataloguing, tracking, storing/retrieving, analyzing, and updating spatial data; (3) Compiling, synthesizing, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting (both graphically in terms of maps and charts in reports); and/or (4) Planning and completing field investigations, acquiring access to and interpreting aerial photos, and participating in on-site reviews and surveys. Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must posses:

Degree: geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.

Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
