This position is located within the JFHQ, J1, Camp Mabry, Austin, TX. The purpose of this position is to provide technical expertise and guidance for all military personnel assigned in the State, and oversees the functions of one of the following human resource programs: Officer Personnel Management (OPM), Enlisted Personnel Management (EPM), Personnel Systems, SIDPERS Interface Branch (SIB), or the Personnel Services Section. Texas is one of 9 states with NO state income tax.

Military Requirements: Compatible Military Assignment (per UMD): Applicant must be Duty MOS/AFSC assigned to a compatible position in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations. Need not have MOS/AFSC to apply. Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military duty position in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the MOS/AFSC within one year of appointment. ARNG Warrant Officer - MOS420A - Adjutant General ARNG Enlisted - CMF 42 - Human Resources Specialist ARNG Officer- AOC 42 Rank Spread: E-1(PVT) to E-9(SGM), WOC to WO2, or O1(2LT) to O3(CPT) SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for qualification, your resume must include relevant experience with beginning and ending dates of employment/experience reflecting the following: Specialized Experience Required: To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must have at least 12 months of specialized experiences at the GS-07 level or the equivalent which provided a basic working knowledge of National Guard missions, organizations, and personnel programs. Must have a basic knowledge and experiences of personnel programs gained in a classroom or as an on-the-job trainee. Have knowledge-based competency of human resources business elements and can discuss terminology, concepts, principles, and issues related to this competency. Experienced in using references and resource materials and experienced in program functions such as, maintaining personnel records, counseling, or classification and assignments. Experiences may include performing personnel functions associated with preparing and maintaining position descriptions and manual records, personnel classification or usage, quality force management, managing personnel records and researching record data. Experienced in operating a computer and using varied computer programs.

Education

Army National Guard and Air National Guard Officers GS-09 Positions:
  • Second and First Lieutenants must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree with at least 90 validated credit hours in a specified program.
Army National Guard Warrant Officers GS-09 Positions:
  • Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma. An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is optimum.
Army National Guard and Air National Guard Enlisted GS-09 Positions:
  • Must have a high school diploma or a general education development (GED) diploma.
