This position is part of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy - Headquarters, Department of Energy- Budget Office. As a Budget Analyst, you will be work in any aspect of DOE's budget process and provide expertise in the analysis of a variety of DOE budgetary operations and functions.

As a GS-12 Budget Analyst, you will:
Requirements

- This position is included in a Bargaining Agreement.

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-12: You must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience is defined as:
Tracking and reconciling financial data; AND
Collaborating on and presenting program budgeting briefs to management officials to update on financial status and requirements; AND
Reviewing budget requests for conformance with program requirements and escalating issues to senior budget analysts.
NOTE: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-12 level.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-13: You must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience is defined as:
Reviewing budget requests for conformance with program and functional requirements and recommending appropriate allocations; AND
Presenting program budget briefings to senior officials, in order to disseminate up-to-date program data; AND
Developing recommendations to maximize and improve utilization of funds that impact program objectives and mission.
NOTE: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-13 level
"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must (1) meet all of the requirements as described in this section; and 2) be rated "well-qualified", which is defined as scoring in the in Well Qualified category (or higher).

Education
Education cannot be substituted in lieu of specialized experience at either grade levels.
