About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support.
Duties
Assist with disposal of hazardous waste.
Assist workers with acids, alkaline, cyanides and oxidizers on metals to electroplate.
Mark and label hazardous waste containers to comply with regulations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
- This position requires a yearly physical IAW 29 CFR 1910.124(h)(4), which requires employees who work with chromic acid to have periodic examinations of their exposed body parts, especially their nostrils.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
WG-5 - Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electroplating Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. To have the reliability and dependability to perform common tasks as an Electroplating Worker Helper such as cleaning and treating agents, and perform other initial work processes such as cleaning, filing, scraping work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
WG - 7 - Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work an Electroplating Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform some tasks including chemical processes used in the operations of performing degreasing, cleaning/corrosion treating operations for alkaline de-rust, resin strip, dry film lube strip, dip and brush dichromate. Responsible for independently performing cleaning/corrosion treating operations for glass bead and aluminum oxide blasting, and acid metal etch. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Continuous use of both hands, frequents standings, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting. Frequently handles objects weighting up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside shop areas having adequate light, ventilation, and safety controls. Exposed to acid solutions, solvents, hot waxes, noxious fumes, and a variety of caustic chemicals. Protection from exposure to burns, scalds, and skin irritations often requires the worker to wear uncomfortable safety equipment such as rubber boots, gloves, rubber aprons, goggles, face shields, or respirators. Working conditions have been considered in the evaluation of this position.
