Serves as the Program Manager responsible for planning, directing, and managing FAA’s Media Relations Division. Under the direction of the Assistant Administrator for Communications, the Program Manager manages the
staff and plans, directs, and delivers accurate information to the media in a timely and efficient manner.
Duties
The Program Manager develops comprehensive communications strategies and plans, advises on crisis management, oversees daily media relations responsibilities and leads select enterprise communications projects and activities. Due to the Agency's 24/7/365 operation, leading the FAA’s media relations division may require working outside of normal duty hours. Specifically, the Program Manager must be flexible and ready to execute or oversee communications activities on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

- Unless previously completed, the incumbent must satisfactorily complete a 1-year probationary period to remain in this supervisory or managerial position.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-J, FG/GS-14 level. This experience is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.Specialized experience is defined as: Experience communicating information on aerospace policies, and procedures, or communicating information about aerospace programs with high-level officials and/or media representatives (i.e., aviation industry reps, legislative executives/Capitol Hill or other government entities, reporters, editors, or staffers).Experience directing a national media relations program; communicating frequently with journalists at local, regional, and national levels; and directing the planning, production, execution, and analysis of public affairs projects and initiatives.Experience developing and managing multiple communications strategies at one time; and engaging the press to foster professional relationships, correct misinformation, and identify proactive opportunities to engage.Experience working in a rapidly changing communications environment, including rapid response and deadline-driven media relations experience.You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
