About the Position: This position is located with the 101ST Airborne Division (Air Assault) HQS & HQS CO (AUGM) - Safey, Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville. Both visitors & residents enjoy the shops & eateries of downtown Hopkinsville & Clarksville. The cost of living is lower than the average for all major U.S. cities.
Duties
Monitor the effectiveness of explosive policies and procedures within home station and deployed locations that present potential safety and health hazards to employees, civilians, contractor personnel, and the host nation public.
Prepare and maintain licenses for explosives operations and ammunition storage for unit's ammunition facilities.
Prepare explosive safety site plans and safety submissions for routing through higher headquarters, U.S. Army Technical Center for Explosives Safety (USATCES), for Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board (DDESB) review and approval.
Responsible for specific actions that are designed to improve and control the explosives safety performance of the Division and subordinate unit activities.
Coordinate with all levels of management, both within the Division, up to USATCES and Department of Army, as well as Garrison Staff, senior engineers, test directors, health physicists, and industrial hygienist personnel.
Investigate ammunition and explosive accidents and incidents, and weapon-related accidents and incidents.
Conduct periodic on-site review and analysis for activities for compliance with safety requirements.
Requirements
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position has been designated as Emergency-Essential and is a deployable position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment Drug Test screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Vehicle Driver's license within 30 days of employment.
- This position requires that the incumbent be able to meet weapons qualification requirements.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear protective clothing suitable for the work environment.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain standard Army safety program certification along with required continuous education, explosives training and training in a tactical field environment.
- This position requires a physical examination for deployment to include immunizations appropriate for overseas/deployment location(s).
- This position may require Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) Training annually and as necessary to meet expeditionary requirements.
- This position may require the incumbent to wear a military Army Combat Uniform (ACU)/duty uniform when deployed, or in the field environment.
- Incumbent must complete all required training and achieve the Installation Career Field (former CP12) Level 1 and Explosives Safety Level 2 professional certificates within 12 months.Continuous education and training is required.
- Work requires frequent onsite surveys with prolonged standing, walking, crawling, climbing, bending, crouching, stretching, reaching and other physical movements. May traverse rough terrain.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: evaluating practices and conditions to identify and resolve unsafe munitions handling, transporting, storing, testing, or disposal operations; monitoring an explosives safety program to determine compliance with established policies and regulations; and implementing specialized safety activities to eliminate or reduce the potential for injuries to employees and/or damage to buildings, aircraft, equipment, machines or other property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
