The incumbent will perform specialized administrative duties for Acute and Ambulatory services representing a major activity of the medical center in support of health care to 87,000 Veterans. The responsibilities of the office of the DADPCS-Acute, and DADPCS-Ambulatory, thereby of the incumbent interact with, and are supported by, various operational units such as HR Management Service, Fiscal, Logistics, Clinical Services, Health Administrative Service, and Decision Support Service.

Duties

The position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Fayetteville VA Medical Center, Deputy Associate Director, Patient Care Services, Acute, and Deputy Associate Director, Patient Care Services, Ambulatory Fayetteville, NC. The primary duties of the position are to provide a wide-range of specialized programmatic and database administrative support functions for the Deputy Chief of Staff for ambulatory healthcare delivery throughout the Medical Center. The incumbent will perform specialized administrative duties for Acute and Ambulatory services representing a major activity of the medical center in support of health care to 87,000 Veterans. The responsibilities of the office of the DADPCS-Acute, and DADPCS-Ambulatory, thereby of the incumbent interact with, and are supported by, various operational units such as Human Resources Management Service, Fiscal, Logistics, Clinical Services, Health Administrative Service, and Decision Support Service. The activities of this position interact with differing and unrelated processes such as clinic utilization; consult management, access, nursing performance, compensation analysis and determination, credentialing, customer service, and the operations of ambulatory and acute care services. Plans, organizes, and directs administrative processes for ambulatory services, acute care, and other functions of the Deputy Associate Director Patient Care Services to ensure consistency across the Medical Center's sites and compliance with policies and directives of VA and accrediting agencies. Functions independently to organize, prioritize, and conduct projects with staff of other Services. Communicates with academic and professional organizations in acquiring references regards potential professional employees. Manages regularly scheduled meetings soliciting and prioritizing agenda items, preparing agendas, attending meetings, communicating results, and tracking follow-up. Utilizes self-initiative to assure that commitments established during meetings are communicated to appropriate staff and implementation delegated and tracked. Analyzes and summarizes data studying administrative and patient care processes across the ambulatory sites to identify and correct deficiencies and inefficiencies (demonstrating proficiency in Access, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, and Project). In the absence of the ADPCS, The DADPCS-Acute, DADPCS-Ambulatory assumes responsibility for ensuring requests for action or information are managed or forwarded to the, ADPCS as appropriate. Work schedule: Mon-Fri 7:00a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Compressed/Flexible Schedule: Not Available Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/08/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. You may qualify based on education and/or experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: experience with clerical and administrative procedures, various office skills; and carrying out day-today administrative support activities; Working in an administrative position which required preparing correspondence, reports and graphs utilizing a variety of computer program. Skill in the use of a variety of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and other software applications; Interacting with executive leadership in the VA and private sector, contractors, staff members as well as Veterans, their family members and/or legal representatives; Provide/submit requested information to ensure all due dates are met in a timely and satisfactory manner; Managing a fast-paced office to include, establishing priorities, set up, reschedule appointments; Use own initiative to follow-up on action items and time-sensitive issues with appropriate staff members.
