This incumbent will report to the Chief of Psychiatry who reports to the Mental Health Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS). The ACOS is responsible for the overall coordination of Mental Health Services for the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System.
Duties
The Program Support Assistant (PSA) provides administrative, programmatic and management assistance to the Chief of Psychiatry, or designee. This incumbent is required to work and make decisions independently. Other duties include, but not limited to:
Administrative support to the Acute Care Psychiatry Programs including the Inpatient Psychiatry, Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP), Mental Health Post-Discharge Clinic, Consultative Psychiatry, lnterventional Psychiatry, and Acute Care Psychiatry Specialty programs as needed.
This incumbent is required to possess exceptional writing skills. Incumbent must exercise independent judgement, demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills with staff through professional and upper level management in local and community wide settings.
Incumbent coordinates onboarding process such as submitting IT tickets to onboard or transfer new employees and trainees, inputting ePAS to ensure CPRS accounts are created, coordinating telework packet completion/submission, participating in interview coordination (including interview scheduling, answering candidate questions, checking references, and participating in interview panels), obtaining and coordinating maintenance of equipment, ordering keys, tracking and updating space management plan, as appropriate.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/20/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade..

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: providing administrative and clerical support to a multi-disciplinary team in support of the mission of the organization, strong ability to work independently to organize and prioritize duties and responsibilities, and manage and analyze various spreadsheets, queries and reports for statistical data.

Physical Requirements: The work is generally sedentary in nature; however the emotional and physical stress resulting from frequent contacts with distressed individuals, some of whom may be dangerous to self or others, makes the work more demanding then most sedentary positions.
