This position is assigned to the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department. Incumbent performs a variety of duties in support of MWR special events, MWR information/resources, command events, visiting ships or fleet support, community events, trips, tours, outings, party and picnic rental equipment, resale tickets, Library, Liberty, leisure skill classes and outdoor recreation or other similar MWR recreational services including grab-n-go, bowling and movies, fitness and sports.
Duties
Incumbent is responsible for the staging and care of golf carts for daily play, and the securing rental equipment and buildings at the end of the day.
Picks up range balls using a ball picker then cleans and maintains range ball supply.
Has an awareness of keeping golf carts staged for play and set-up for weekly and special shotgun start events.
Routinely performs maintenance of checking tire pressure and filling golf cart batteries, cleaning of windshields and basic cleaning of golf carts.
General maintenance of buildings, which may include cleaning restrooms in main building and on course restrooms, picking up trash around/inside cart barn area.
Places water at water stations on the golf course twice daily. May assist other department facilities during special events or when required. And other duties that are assigned.
Advises supervisor when carts/equipment are returned damaged.
Ability to tactfully deal with persons from divergent backgrounds.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Requirements
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation.
- Work may require sitting, walking, long periods of standing, bending and lifting of moderately heavy items up to 40 pounds without assistance and occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance.
- Work schedule is flexible and will vary as required by the needs of the program to include night, weekend, and holiday shifts as well as split days off.
Qualifications
Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
Ability to perform basic computer operations.
Ability to read and comprehend in order to adhere to published rules, regulations, standard operating procedures, checklists, and other guides.
Ability to perform basic custodial tasks (e.g., sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping, dusting, etc.).
Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
Ability to identify customer needs, deliver expected service and/or resolve routine customer issues.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Education
No specific education requirements. A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
