This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Duties

Major Duties include, but not limited to: Ensures adequate staff is available to meet workload demands. Oversees procedures are prioritized accordingly and ensures daily functionality of all equipment including coordinating scheduled preventative maintenance of equipment with minimal impact to daily workflow. Makes changes in workflow or assignment of functions to position to improve workflow and services rendered, promote job satisfaction, increase productivity, ensure emergent work is done promptly and efficiently. Acts as liaison to outside departments to resolve acute workflow issues or protocol adjustments and determines if elevation to higher level is required. Ability to communicate effectively to be able to provide critical feedback regarding technical aspects to Radiology Students in the absence of the Clinical Instructor. Acts as liaison between VA leadership and academic affiliates in all clinical aspects in the absence of the Clinical Instructor. The technologist provides direct, one on one, instruction to rotating student technologists, and direct and indirect instruction to Radiology residents. Accepts constructive criticism and in service from QA Radiology personnel. Assists with student orientation to the clinical site and observes students in clinical setting to ensure progress and documents student deficiencies to relay to clinical instructor. Assigns students to different areas of Radiology per program clinical education plan in the absence of the Clinical Instructor. Enforces all Radiography program and VA policies, rules, and counsels, each student on the evaluation of his/her clinical performance in the absence of the Clinical Instructor. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Certification. All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R). Advanced ARRT certification is required for assignments that include computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), [or Mammography (M) duties performed independently, as applicable]. Advanced certification indicates that the incumbent [can operate independently] and has demonstrated specific clinical competency in the appropriate specialty and taken and passed the designated examination. [In modalities that require advanced certification, to support their continued development, technologists who do not possess an advanced certification may be provided on the job training with oversight from a certified radiologic technologist. Education. Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from [other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE). May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations: Experience. At least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level directly related to the position being filled that demonstrates the clinical competencies described at that level, AND Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs. YOUR RESUME MUST CLEARLY CONVEY THAT YOU MEET ALL BELOW LISTED KSAs AT THIS GRADE LEVEL: Ability to provide feedback to supervisor on technical aspects of work. Ability to resolve informal employee complaints. Ability to monitor and report on the status and progress of work and make adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established procedures. Ability to perform general and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures in advanced levels of complex treatment situations. References: VA Handbook 5005, Part 11, Appendix G-25. The full performance level of this vacancy is 10. Physical Requirements: Position requires Lifting (Assist Patients from lying position to sitting (and vice versa) with varying degrees of assistance, working with 200+ lbs.)/Carrying (45!bs and over); Sitting/Standing/Walking/Kneeling/Bending/Twisting/Pulling/P ushing/Simple Grasping/Fine Manipulation (Keyboard and Computer Components)/Reaching Above Shoulder/Operating Machinery (US Equipment)/Chemicals (Hospital-Based Solvents) 2-6 hours each requirement per day.
