Duties

You will inspect, maintain, repair, alter, and install heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HAVCR) equipment, ensuring that the subject equipment and component parts are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition. You will ensure that the equipment operates continually in an effective manner and at the required temperatures. You will maintain temperature and pressure controls of electrical/computer, and pneumatic types, to include thermostats, and shall ensure the required continual operation of the air conditioning and refrigeration equipment at correct temperatures. You will inspect and change recording devices systematically as per design and investigate erratic readings and make any necessary corrections. You will perform seasonal start up and shut down of HVACR systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current Refrigerant Recovery certification.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You must be able to lift, carry, and handle equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ability to perform common Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic tasks including basic operation, maintenance, and repair conditioning, heating and ventilation equipment.
