Duties
This position serves as a Regional Information Systems Cybersecurity Specialist providing mission critical Information Technology (IT) security and oversight for the CGB Region and facilities. The incumbent perorms the following duties:
Responsible for the protection of information and information systems and for providing a framework to manage and measure IT Security Program performance.
Promotes increased awareness throughout the Region, and to reduce potential breaches of sensitive Agency information and the compromise of information systems. This position will assist the Bureau Chief Information Security Officer (BCISO).
Responsible for conducting IT security testing and Assessment and Authorization to meet DOI operations requirements.
Implements the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Information System Security, and Privacy and training requirements; ensuring that end users adhere to security policy and guidelines as well as complete mandatory security training in a timely manner.
Provides oversite to highly technical work involving extreme urgency to help protect the bureau/office against potential information technology threats and vulnerabilities.
Provides a centralized resource for cybersecurity information, awareness, planning, reporting, and compliance.
Qualifications

Specialized Experience for the GS-12 is defined as (52 weeks, full-time) of specialized experience equivalent to the difficulty and complexity of a GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (or comparable level of experience from outside the Federal service) performing the following duties:
(1) Experience in the evaluation and implementation of network security technologies, and (2) Performing facets of computer network operations, information assurance, and the security and operations in cyberspace that encompass a full range of threat reduction, vulnerability reduction, deterrence, international engagement, incident response, resiliency, and recovery activities.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Applicants eligible under the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) are not required to meet time-in-grade restrictions in order to be considered.You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 09/12/2023.
