This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Direct Hiring Authority (DHA) for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and Major Range and Test Facilities Base, NDAA 1125 (a) and (c) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as a Shift Supervisor for the Security Guard force. Responsible for the safeguarding government personnel, property, and technologies against threats.
Duties
Plan and coordinate the activities of a guard shift to insure the maintenance of physical security standards.
Receive and review daily reports from subordinate work leaders and insures the correction of reported irregularities.
Develop training plans and conduct training based on approved training courses and regulatory requirements.
Supervise necessary training for guard personnel.
Perform supervisory and administrative duties relating to the security guard force to include work plans, short-term priorities, and work schedules.
Provide security orientation to installation command personnel and input to developing manning and budgetary requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to carry a firearm and must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance (T3 investigation).
- This position requires the incumbent to meet and maintain the Individual Personnel Reliability Program standards outlined in accordance with AR 190-56.
- This position is a drug testing-designated position and requires pre-employment and random drug testing thereafter.
- This position requires shift work or a change in work shift to provide coverage on evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Overtime may be required as directed and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime.
- Must undergo an initial, and annually thereafter, physical examination to assess continued ability (physical, emotional, and mental stability) for effective performance.
- Must successfully complete CPR certification and First Aid training.
- Must successfully pass an entry level, and annual re-certification thereafter, standard Army physical fitness test, the Physical Agility Test (PAT).
- Must obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must wear prescribed uniform.
- This position is covered/subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban/1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
- This position requires certification and use of Oleoresin Capsicum (OC)/pepper spray.
- This position is supervisory and requires a one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties unless previously completed.
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to successfully graduate from an accredited academy for Security Guard training in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain taser certification.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience distributing or assigning work, to include management of multiple shifts; controlling installation access or patrolling restricted and limited access areas using physical access control equipment; safeguarding personnel, information, operations and critical assets, and providing on-the-job training in order to broaden guard skills. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07 or equivalent).
