This position is located within the Facilities Engineering Services (FES) Coatesville VA Medical Center and reports directly to the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor. This position plans and manages a broad dynamic facility-wide maintenance and repair program.

Duties

Position Title / PD#: Facility Services Assistant / PD007990 Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm (Eastern Time) Major Duties Include: Serving as customer service primary Point Of Contact. Taking incoming service calls and dispatches service technicians Scheduling short- and long-term maintenance repairs and construction. Coordinating contractor repairs. Administering equipment turn-in process. Reviewing all equipment turn in requests. Serving as lead work order official. Responsible for the training and master listing of all work order officials on campus. Maintaining equipment, utility and preventive maintenance schedules in accordance with VA regulations. Knowledge of varied computer systems and software to create enter and store data. Providing administrative support to include preparing memos, and correspondence. Collecting and entering data in order to complete reports. Serving as official time keeper through the Veterans Affairs Time and Attendance System (VATAS). Knowledge of basic bookkeeping, record keeping, and mathematical computation skills sufficient to maintain records, compute statistics, and ensure accuracy of varied reports and projects. Knowledge of formatting and administrative practices sufficient to prepare correspondence and reports. Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement (09/13/2023). Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-6) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Specialized experience includes: managing data and adjusting work orders; coding, reviewing, and validating labor and refund/reimbursement work orders; conducting liaison with shop supervisors; projecting work schedules and recurring work plans; serving as customer service point of contact; dispatching service calls and do-it-now emergency response teams; scheduling short- and long-range maintenance, repair, and minor construction requirements; and coordinating on contract repairs. Education: There is no educational substitution at this grade level.
