This position is located in the Environmental Care section of Guest Relations (GRS). The incumbent is under the immediate supervision of the General Foreman.
The Incumbent performs a variety of duties related to the supervision of an assigned group of employees, responsible for carrying out duties involving custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, and sanitation activities, to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the treatment and care of patients.
Duties
Some major duties include but are not limited to:
Incumbent is responsible for the supervision of housekeepers. The incumbent performs the following duties:
Supervision:
Appraises and evaluates work performance
Inspects areas to assure cleanliness and antiseptic protocols are met and in accordance to the area cleaned
Schedules staff for day and evening shifts, including weekends to assure coverage
Initiates disciplinary actions when necessary
Conduct disciplinary investigations
Approves leave
Recommends staff members for awards
Writes or alters positions descriptions
Assigns and re-distributes work based on workload needs
Provides guidance to subordinate staff relating to protocol and problems experienced
Administration:
Contributes to policies and assists in resolving endemic problems experienced in the Service
Participates on committees
Oversees and initiates the ordering of equipment
Inspects equipment and oversees it is maintained according to policy
Prepares and submits various reports related to work assignments and inspection outcomes
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Rotating shifts, weekends, holidays.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position demands continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds. The duties necessitate considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, and concentration as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust and debris.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed indoors with adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Some work may be performed outdoors where there may be exposed to varying degrees of heat and cold as well as inclement weather. PPE may be required in some circumstance as exposure to possible contagious diseases, blood and bloody secretion are inherent to this position. Care is required to avoid serious injuries (i.e., broken bones) when working on ladders, or when using 30-100-pound power equipment or handling hazardous materials.
