The primary purpose of this position is To provide full performance level work in constructing, installing, repairing, and modifying wood and wood substitute structures and items requiring close tolerance fit and structural soundness. Performs minor roofing repairs.

Duties

1. Independently applies skilled methods, techniques, and advanced shop mathematics to construct, install, repair, and modify a wide variety of structures. 2. Repairs all types of roofing consisting of asphalt, all types of tile, slate roll roofing, felts, and shingles 3. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment 4. Uses and maintains tools 5. Maintains records and documents actions.

  • The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver?s license is required for the position.

  • Employee will be required to support Base Readiness and Emergency Operations Exercises and Real World Threats and Events
  • Employee will be required to support Special Events (i.e. Annual Air Show, Base Exercises) not necessarily performing in their primary skill code
  • Employee will be required to augment the Civil Engineering Snow Removal Team not necessarily performing in their primary skill code. Employee would be trained on safe snow shoveling and snow removal practice

Qualifications

Conditions of employment continued: The work does require the employee to carry a cell phone. This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs The physical requirements of this position as determined by the manager are: Uses hand and power tools and equipment that may require standing and holding tools in uncomfortable positions for extended periods. The work requires considerable bending, kneeling, and stooping. On-site work typically requires crawling, climbing on ladders, scaffolds, and rooftops. Strenuous physical exertion is sometimes required when handling heavy and bulky materials such as sheets of plywood and other construction materials. May lift and move materials up to 40 pounds, unassisted, and occasionally lift or move heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4600 Wood Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
