About the Position: Position is located in the Outpatient Records section of the hospital. Performs various administration and clerical duties related to processing, analyzing and maintaining medical records. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Maintains the outpatient accountability/record tracking system within the medical treatment facility. Reports overdue/ missing record report for trends and historical data to command. Resolves patient complaints of an administrative nature, referring complaints to appropriate level when discussion fails. Performs a variety of other support and clerical duties, e.g., compiling data reports to include performance improvement data, information of data in support of Joint Commissions and Medical Record Review Committees.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires a qualified typist of 40 WPM.
  • Position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Background Investigation.
  • Position requires up to 5% Temporary Duty.
  • This position requires mandatory Seasonal Influenza Vaccination and is therefore subject to annual Seasonal Influenza Vaccinations.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience in 1) responding to routine requests for readily identifiable medical information from health care organizations, insurance companies, patients and other government and non-government agencies, 2) typing a variety of materials, to include memorandums, reports and responses to medical inquiries, 3) using word processing equipment and standard office applications software to update, review, or correct patient records, and 4) maintaining medical records in accordance with established regulations. OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
