About the Position: This position will serve as a Staff Action Officer for the Directorate of Training and Doctrine (DOTD), Fires Center of Excellence (FCoE) located at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The incumbent will provide staffing guidance to directorate divisions in response to urgent and routine requests for information and recommendations on issues of operations, current events strategy and plans, command and control, and training issues.
Duties
Serve as the advisor to the Director, Deputy, Operations Officer and Division Chiefs on both technical and administrative matters relating to the accomplishment, coordination and disposition of a variety of substantive staff actions and assignments.
Responsible for the oversight of a variety of actions which are characterized by unique requirements demanding continuous oversight, research, analysis, planning to provide administrative coordination for staff actions and correspondence.
Carry out high priority assignments, studies, and projects personally assigned by the Director on a wide variety of sensitive and confidential matters.
Participate in important administrative management planning and policy development affecting the directorate.
Principal advisor to directorate administrative officers, in matters of personnel and position management, processes and procedures of performance management systems, and other aspects of administrative management.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is 15 percent.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes the following: Provide a full range of management services including staff counsel, administrative services and program management; Provide recommendations on staff actions for key programs and issues; Create briefings/presentations, memoranda and reports to ensure programs and initiatives are accurately met; and Inform others of established procedures, policies or guidance to ensure compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration (Note: Must upload transcripts).
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
