This position is located with Bureau of Indian Affairs, Western Region in Parker, Arizona.

Duties

Polyphase meter installation and maintenance Automated Meter Infrastructure operation and maintenance Test and Calibrate metering systems. Meter connection and disconnection and reading. Safely work around electrical distribution voltages of 12.47kv AC to support high voltage metering. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be a qualified journeyman having served an accredited apprenticeship training program of approximately 8,000 hours or equivalent training and/or experience. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements: Element A (1) - Ability to do work of the Meter Mechanic (Polyphase) without more than Normal Supervision. (Screen-Out Element) Element B (2E) - Knowledge of Equipment, Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Element C (25D) - Theory and Instruments, (Electrical, Electronic) used in shop and trade practices. Element D (25E) - Knowledge of Technical Practices Element E (75A) - Ability to interpret instructions, blueprints, specifications, etc. Element F (81) - Ability to use and maintain tools and operate and maintain equipment and use of measuring instruments. Element G (96) - Troubleshooting Applicants will be rated upon the statements in their application/resume and responses to the Occupational Questionnaire. It will be to their advantage to give a clear and complete description of any pertinent experience or training gained, including types of equipment and devices with which concerned. The Occupational Questionnaire must be completed in order to show skills, abilities, and knowledge under the elements outlined above. WORKING CONDITIONS: Field work will be required during all seasons and the employee will be exposed to temperatures ranging from about 35 Fahrenheit to 120 Fahrenheit, and occasional windy and dusty conditions. Works both inside and outdoors and is exposed to the possibility of electric shock, falls, bruises, cuts, burns, strains, etc. Work is on or around energized sources. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.

Education

If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.

One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education which shows the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
