You will serve as a Electrician Leader in the Operations Officer, PWO/Deputy PW Officer New London, Production Division, Utilities & Energy Branch of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will plan and lay out sequence of work from drawings or blueprints to repair electrical circuits, systems, equipment, and controls. You will follow wiring diagrams to determine details of electrical work (e.g., nature of repair and installation, layout and placement of circuitry, types of wiring, equipment installed). You will determine if faulty electrical components need to be reworked or replaced. You will ensure that all tools, material and equipment are available at each job site. You will spot check jobs to ensure code, safety and quality requirements are met and inspect jobs at completion.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position is designated as ALPHA and incumbent will be required to report in emergencies and inclement weather.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE and demonstrate the following skills: 1) Performing troubleshooting functions on electrical utility system problems, identifying the problem, coming up with a solution, creating a material list to implement the solution, and implementing the solution when material is available; 2) Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing transformers, circuit breakers, switches, underground distribution lines, overhead distribution lines, splices, fuses, and other equipment related to electrical distribution systems; 3) Performing work in compliance with all applicable electrical and safety codes.
