The primary purpose of this position is to provide supply operations support pertaining to specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts requiring unusual degrees of protection in shipment and storage, or other items that are unique to the organization's mission or are seldom handled.
Duties
Conducts extensive searches for information pertaining to complex and/or unusual supply transactions and patterns.
Provides supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for equipment and/or parts requiring special handling.
Determines stock levels needed for non-recurring, specialized items based on usage, inventory, project demands, seasonal demands, changing customer needs, and projected depletion.
Prepares recurring and special reports. Compiles statistics from data requiring substantial analysis, interpretation, and development of new formats.
Performs administrative office support functions and maintains cooperative working relationships with team members, related functions, and operating officials.
Performs protective services work in guarding federally owned property; protecting government equipment and materials and controlling access to controlled storage areas by employees or visitors.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR CURRENT/PREVIOUS FEDERAL EMPLOYEES:
Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions and an intensive knowledge of local supply requirements to ensure supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for urgent, critical shortage, and other special items. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
OR
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR APPLICANTS WITH NO PREVIOUS FEDERAL EMPLOYMENT:
Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions and an intensive knowledge of local supply requirements to ensure supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for urgent, critical shortage, and other special items. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-?grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions. Knowledge of security, safety, fire and health guidelines and regulations.
Knowledge of supply functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods. Knowledge of data entry and processing of supply transactions in an automated supply system.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable reference material, such as supply regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc., to accomplish tasks and resolve complex supply problems.
Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve complex supply problems and/or deviate from
normal supply management procedures or program requirements. Ability to receive, screen, review, and verify supply documents and resolve discrepancies.
Ability to complete required training to achieve proficiency in handling required weapons for safeguarding government property. Weapons Certification/Bearing of Arms required.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
