This position is located at the United States Mint in San Francisco in the Production Engineering and Maintenance Branch. As a Toolmaker, you will be concerned with the fabrication, manufacture, calibration, reconditioning, and repair of machine tools, jigs, fixtures, dies, punches, and gages used in the manufacture, overhaul, and repair of equipment.

Duties

As a Toolmaker, you will: Fabricate parts for machine tools, jigs and fixtures; working from blueprints, sketches, specifications, and or oral instructions Determine work materials, procedures and sequences of operations Design, develop, and repair various types of punches, cutting blades, tools and fixtures for mass production and or special machine parts Consult with engineers on highly technical aspects of the development of high efficiency and a times one-of-a kind machine parts Fabricate and repair blanking die sets, stamping dies, and other special high efficiency dies, carbide dies and components for all denominations of coins, except for cents Diagnoses, dismantles and corrects problems with machine tools and other related shop equipment by making necessary repairs, using prints, manufacturer's specifications and recommended spare parts
